MADISON, Wis. – Head coach Greg Van Emburgh and assistant coach Joe Bates hosted the annual year-end banquet to highlight Wisconsin’s successful year and award the season’s Most Valuable Player, Hardest Worker and Newcomer of the Year.
Alexander Kostanov closed out his Badger career, earning this season’s Most Valuable Player award. Kostanov led the team with a 14-8 record, including an 11-0 start to the year. He also paired with Billy Bertha in number one doubles, earning a national ranking of No. 71.
The Hardest Worker award went to freshman Oskar Wikberg, who finished the season with a 9-14 record at courts ones through four. Wikberg was instrumental in Wisconsin’s success this season, clinching victories against UMKC, Western Illinois, South Florida and Purdue.
Jakhongir Jalalov took home the Newcomer of the Year award for the Badgers. Jalalov was a consistent force for Wisconsin, tallying an 11-11 record. Together, Jalalov and Wikberg led the team in doubles action with a 10-5 record.
