The 19th-ranked Ohio State mens tennis team swept Wisconsin, Saturday, 7-0. The Badgers fell to 7-12 on the season and 2-6 in Big Ten Conference competition. The Buckeyes improved their record to 19-3 overall and 7-1 in the Big Ten.

OSU took two of the three double matches to capture the doubles point. Wisconsin duo freshman Pete Amundson and senior co-captain Scott Green defeated Buckeyes Scott Green and Ross Wilson, 8-6 at the No. 2 spot.

The Badgers top pair, No. 33 senior co-captain David Hippee and junior Alex Kasarov were upset by 56th-ranked team Joey Atas and Jeremy Wurtzman, 8-6. Brenton Contini and Dennis Mertens defeated UW sophomores Ward Bortz and Mark Weinig, 8-1 at the No. 3 slot.

In singles action, the nations top ranked player, OSUs Wurtzman, took down Kasarov in a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 1s. The Badgers fell in the remaining five matches.

Bortz, UWs closest singles victory, dropped in the tiebreaker to Dennis Mullings, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 a the No. 4 spot.

The Badgers return to Madison, Wis., next weekend for their final matches of the season. Wisconsin will pair off against Michigan State (14-12 overall, 1-7 Big Ten) on Saturday and Michigan (11-8, 2-6) on Sunday. The matches will honor senior co-captains Hippee and Green.
