The 31st-ranked Miami mens tennis team defeated Wisconsin Friday afternoon, 6-1, in Coral Gables, Fla. The Badgers fell to 4-6 on the season, as the Hurricanes improved to 10-6 overall.
The `Canes captured the doubles point, sweeping all three matches. Miamis top pair Tim Krebs and Colin Purcell overpowered UWs 40th-ranked duo junior Alex Kasarov and senior co-captain David Hippee, 8-6.
In other doubles matches, UMs John Hoyes and Jeremiah Fuller defeated senior co-captain Scott Green and Alex Conti in the tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5).
At the No. 3 slot, Eric Hechtman and Josh Cohen took down UW sophomores Ward Bortz and Jordan Raemisch (UW), 8-1.
Scott Green earned Wisconsins only singles victory, as he defeated Tim Krebs in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
The Badgers return to competition Saturday as they face Georgia Southern. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
