The Wisconsin men's tennis team (7-4, 1-1 Big Ten) earned a 7-0 sweep over in-state rival Marquette Wednesday in Milwaukee. It was the seventh shutout of the season for the Badgers. The win also marked the 10th consecutive UW win over the Golden Eagles.
Sophomore Nolan Polley earned his team-best 10th win of the year with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 4 singles. Teammate Jeremy Sonkin earned his ninth win of at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Eigis Vedrickas of Marquette. Brennen Phippen, Gian Hodgson and Elliott Bisnow also claimed wins in the singles department.
The Badgers also swept the doubles point, earning all three victories. Polley and Sonkin improved to an undefeated 4-0 this spring with a win over Pete Van Lieshout and Brett Binkley, 8-3.
Wisconsin returns to action March 14 at Florida Atlantic. The match is part of a two-match spring break road trip for the Badgers. The squad also is set to battle South Florida on March 17.
