Wisconsin falls to No. 34 Northwestern

Final Stats

Despite several close matches and a victory at No. 1 doubles, Wisconsin fell to No. 34 Northwestern, 7-0, on Friday at the Combe Tennis Center in Evanston, Ill. 

UW got off to a slow start, dropping the doubles point to the Wildcats.

Sophomore Alexander Kokorev and senior Petr Satral claimed the Badgers sole victory of the day against No. 33 ranked Raleigh Smith and Mihir Kumar in No. 1 doubles.

Sophomore Jakhongir Jalalov and John Zordani were unable to gain momentum against Alex Pasaranu and Sam Shropshire, dropping the match 8-3.

Junior Michael Sinha and freshman Elliott Sprecher fell to Fedor Baer and Strong Kirchheimer, with a final decision of 8-5.

In singles action, Satral was defeated by No. 58 Smith, with a final score of 6-3, 6-1.

At No. 2 singles, Kokorev came up short, falling in a third set tie-breaker to Shropshire, 6-7 (2), 6-2, 1-0 (3).

Sprecher fell to Konrad Zieba at the No. 3 spot, with a final decision of 6-1, 6-1.

Zordani was unable to overcome Northwestern's Kumar, falling 6-1, 6-2.

At No. 5 singles, Sinha came up short against Kirchheimer, with a final decision of 6-3, 6-1.

Pasareanu defeated UW sophomore Frederik Strabo, with a final score of 6-4, 6-0.

The Badgers return to the court on Sunday to take on No. 11 Illinois at noon (CT).
