LEXINGTON, Ky. - The No. 30-ranked Wisconsin men's tennis team fell in its second match of the weekend for a disappointing appearance at the 2011 ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Badgers were upset in a 4-0 shutout by No. 42 Boise State on Sunday bringing their record to an even 2-2 start.

UW and Boise State faced off in a consolation match with both teams looking to rebound from first round losses.  Saturday's results ended both teams' run at qualifying for the 2011 ITA National Indoor Team Championships.

The Badgers (2-2, 0-0 Big Ten) got off to a positive start with Marek Michalicka and Billy Bertha opening the dual with an 8-3 victory in the No. 1 doubles spot. The match turned out to be UW's only win of the day though as Boise State came back to claim the doubles point along with the match momentum.

After moving up to the No. 2 doubles spot this weekend, Rod Carey and Ricardo Martin looked to clinch the early point for Wisconsin with a win over Jeff Mullen and Nathan Sereke. Mullen and Sereke proved to be too much for the Badger duo to handle answering for Boise State with an 8-4 win.

BSU's Andrew Bettles and Filipp Pogostkin would seal the doubles point victory next at No. 3 defeating Petr Satral and Alexander Teppert, 8-3.

Boise State never looked back after doubles play as the Broncos quickly extended their lead with a win in the No. 2 spot over UW's Bertha. No. 85-ranked Pogostkin defeated the Badger sophomore 6-3, 6-3 for a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Despite second set comeback efforts from Wisconsin's Alex Robles and Michalicka in the No. 4 and 1 spots, respectively, Boise State pushed ahead to take the 4-0 match win over the Badgers.

In the final match of the kickoff weekend, host team No. 12 Kentucky and No. 22 Wake Forest faced off after advancing from wins on Saturday. UK defeated the Deacons 4-0, earning a spot in the National Indoor Championships in Seattle, Wash., Feb. 18-21.

Wisconsin will take next week off before opening a three match homestand beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 8, when the Badgers host No. 36 Notre Dame. UW will then open its Big Ten season against No. 33 Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 13, before wrapping up the home swing against Marquette on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
