The Wisconsin mens swimming and diving team stands in third place after the second day of competition at the Minnesota Invite. The Badgers scored 400 points on Saturday, winning two of the seven events. Minnesota leads the competition with 952.5 points, while Purdue sits in second with 638 points.
Senior Tim Liebhold placed first in the 400-yard individual medley at 3:58.83. Teammate and classmate Adam Mania took the second victory for the Badgers in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 48.26.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Liebhold, Mania, Tom Molzhan, and Eric Wiesner came in second at 1:31.24. Wiesner added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.40).
Wisconsin finished the competition with a second-place finish from the 800-yard freesyle relay team of Liebhold, Wiesner, Mania, and Michael Hamm (6:39.85).
Freshman diver Justin Bonner took ninth-place on the 1-meter board (254.85), while brother Josh came in 11th at 234.54.
The Invitational wraps up tomorrow with the preliminaries at 10 a.m. and the finals at 3 p.m.
