MADISON, Wis. -- A pair of Badgers performed well at the 2013 EnergyAustralia Swimming Championships this past week.

Former Badgers swimmer Dan Lester and sophomore Nick Schafer both shined in their individual races during the seven-day event, which was held at the Sam Aquatic and Leisure Center in Adelaide, Australia.

Lester swam in four events, highlighted by his second-place finish in the 100-meter butterfly (52.14). Not only does the top-2 finish put Lester in distinction for a spot on the Australian World Championships team but it also stands as the eighth-fastest 100-meter butterfly time in Australian swimming history.

Schafer, who joined the team mid-season, also enjoyed a solid outing at the swimming championships, placing third in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:14.45).

The duo will learn of their possible addition to the World Championships roster in the coming days. The 2013 FINA World Championships are set to begin July 28 in Barcelona, while the IPC World Championships are slated for Aug. 12-18 in Montreal.
