UW Earns Two All-American Honors on Day Two of NCAAs

Seniors Adam Mania (Hickman, Neb.) and Tim Liebhold (Chapel Hill, N.C.) both earned All-America honors on the second day of competition at the NCAA championships, placing in the top eight in the finals of their events Friday night at University Aquatic Center.

Im happy that both Adam and Tim were able to keep up their high level of performance from yesterday, head coach Eric Hansen said. Both are having a great meet so far.

Mania earned his second All-America honor of his career by finishing eighth in the 100-yard backstroke final with a mark of 47.44. Liebhold earned his first career All-America honor by swimming to sixth place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 3:48.41.

The Badgers have 32 team points and are in 19th place. Auburn leads with 338 points.

Each swimmer only competed in one event today. Tomorrow on the final day of the NCAAs, Mania and Libhold will each compete in the 200-yard backstroke.
