Senior Nick Van Sicklen (Madison, Wis.) was honored as a selection for the 2004 NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region second team. The tri-captain was named to the second team in 2002 as well. Indiana led all teams with 5 selections, while three players from Notre Dame were honored to the first team. Fellow Big Ten teams Northwestern and Ohio State each featured two players, while Michigan had one.
The tri-captain was recently selected to participate in the 2005 Adidas MLS Player Combine, Jan. 8-11 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The players will be competing for the opportunity to be selected for the 2005 MLS SuperDraft, taking place in Baltimore, Md., On Jan. 14th.
Van Sicklen led the Big Ten with 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points this season. He is a three time All-Big Ten player, and was a four year starter for the Badgers. This season he was named College Soccer News National Player of the Week after his hat-trick performance against No. 9 Penn State. He currently ranks fourth in Wisconsins all time record book with 76 career points.
Having concluded their season the Badgers will hand out team awards tonight at their team banquet.
