Wisconsin mens soccer seniors Dominic DaPra and Scott Repa were named to the 2001 All-Great Lakes Region second team, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America this week.
The regional honor is the first for Repa while DaPra makes his second appearance on the team after being named to the all-Great Lakes first team last season. Both athletes also garnered first-team all-Big Ten honors this season.
Repa, a native of Racine, Wis., had a major impact as Badgers sweeper this season, helping the UW defense record three shutouts this season while ranking fifth on the team in scoring with seven points. He led the team in assists with five and scored his first goal since 1998 in the UWs 4-2 win over IUPUI. Repa was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 1) after recording an assist and several defensive stops while playing all 120 minutes in a 2-2 tie against Marquette. A team captain this season, Repa played in 74 of the Badgers 76 games during his career and had 71 starts.
One of the nations top scorers, DaPras 15 goals this season led the Big Ten, and he ranks 16th nationally with a 0.79 goals per game average. In only two seasons at the UW after transferring from St. Louis University, DaPra is among the Badgers top five in career goals, points, multi-goal games, hat tricks and game-winning goals. He recorded his second career hat trick versus Alabama A&M on Sept. 2, and was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Sept. 3 after scoring five goals in two games and being named the Rocky Rococo Classic tournament MVP. DaPra also earned team of the week honors by Soccer America and College Soccer News following that effort.
