MADISON, Wis. -- Sophomore defender AJ Cochran led a group of three Badgers that earned All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced on Thursday. Cochran was named All-Big Ten First Team, while Adam Lauko and Drew Conner were named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
Cochran was a unanimous All-Freshman Team selection last season and made the jump to All-Big Ten First Team this year. The Saint Louis native anchored a UW defense that has twice held opponents to scoreless streaks of more than 200 minutes, including a 419-minute shutout streak spanning from Oct. 21-Nov. 7. Cochran was also a factor on the offensive end of the pitch, tallying a goal and two assists.
Adam Lauko and Drew Conner were both unanimous selections to the All-Freshman Team. Lauko was a fixture in the Wisconsin defense, starting 10 games, blossoming as the season wore on.
Conner was also a bright spot for UW, starting every game but one, finishing the year fourth on the team with five points from two goals and one assist.
Kyle McCrudden was also recognized by the Big Ten, winning the Sportsmanship Award for Wisconsin. The senior was an anchor for a young Badger team, joining the starting lineup on a more permanent basis later in the season. He recorded one assist on the offensive end of the pitch.
