The Wisconsin mens soccer team looks for one more win before entering post-season play next week. The Badgers finish their regular season Saturday, Nov. 8, against Valparaiso at Reddan Park in Verona, Wis. The Badgers and Crusaders kick off at noon.
Wisconsin (9-9-1, 1-4-1 Big Ten) battled Northwestern to a 0-0 tie last Sunday in which junior goalkeeper Eric Hanson grabbed a season-high nine saves and earned his fifth shutout. Hanson was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
Last weekend the Crusaders (2-12-2, 1-5-0 Mid-Con.) fell to Western Illinois 2-0 in their final home game of the season. Valpo has won only one road game this year and has scored just eight total goals. Junior Owen Hoyt and freshman Jon Brighton lead the team with two scores each.
The Badgers have faced the Crusaders once previously, falling 2-1 in Valparaiso, Ind., last year.
Saturdays matchup concludes the regular-season schedule for Wisconsin who heads to Bloomington, Ind., next week for the 2003 Big Ten Conference Mens Soccer Championships. The final tournament bracket will be released early next week.
