With Penn States upset win over No. 17 Indiana on Saturday, the Badgers are assured of the No. 7 seed for the upcoming Big Ten Championship, which the UW will host Nov. 13-16. The Badgers will face the No. 2 seed, either Michigan or Northwestern, in an opening-round contest at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13.

Against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, the UW seeks its fifth-consecutive non-conference win, something the Badgers havent done since claiming six straight non-league wins from Oct. 6, 2004 to Sept. 4, 2005. The last time the Badgers won five straight non-conference games in the same season was when they claimed five in a row from Sept. 24 to Nov. 8, 2003.

The Badgers seek their first four-match win streak since a run of four straight victories from Sept. 2 to Sept. 14 of the 2007 season. The Badgers have won four straight matches twice since Jeff Rohrman took over as head coach in 2002.

At three straight, the Badgers have matched their season-best win streak, which had the team off to a 3-0 start to the campaign after consecutive wins over Wright State, Denver and Santa Clara.

The UWs win over Northern Illinois gave the Badgers eight non-conference victories for the first time since the team went 10-6-0 in non-league games in the 2003 season.

A win over Drake on Wednesday would give the Badgers five wins at home for the 11th time in the 16 seasons theyve played at the McClimon Complex.

A victory over the Bulldogs also would move head coach Jeff Rohrmans career record to the .500 mark. In his seventh season at the helm of the UW program, he is currently 61-62-11.

With their win over Northern Illinois last week, the Badgers have now won at least nine matches in five of Rohrmans seven seasons in Madison.

All six of the Badgers losses this season have come by one-goal margins, while the five Big Ten Conference matches they failed to win were decided by a combined four goals.

Junior Scott Lorenz tallied his team-leading ninth goal of the season and the Badgers defense did the rest in a 1-0 road win over Northern Illinois. The victory snapped a five-match losing streak for the Badgers on the Huskies home turf that dated back to 1995 and gave them their sixth shutout in 17 games this season.

The Bulldogs enter Wednesdays contest coming off a 2-0 loss at No. 3 Creighton on Saturday that was their first Missouri Valley Conference defeat of the year. Overall, the Bulldogs have won three of their last five matches and own an 8-2-0 record away from home this season.

Drake shares three common opponents with the Badgers, owning wins over UW-Milwaukee and UW-Green Bay and a double-overtime loss to Western Illinois. The Badgers also won against UW-Milwaukee and UW-Green Bay but fell to the Leathernecks, 1-0, in a home game on Oct. 1. The Badgers are 5-3-0 since that defeat, with the three losses coming by a combined three goals.

The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 29-16 on the year, including a 17-4 margin in the first period, and average 15.5 shots per contest. Drake features a balanced offensive attack, with six players having scored at least three goals. Hunter Kennedy and Garrett Webb are tied for the team lead with five scores apiece, while Webb also has tallied five assists.

In goal, Michael Drozd is 10-3-0 on the year with a 1.05 goals-against average and a .736 save percentage..

The Badgers had won all seven meetings between the teams until a 3-1 victory by Drake last season in the UW-Milwaukee Panther Classic.

The UW is 3-0 all-time against Drake at the McClimon Complex, including a 2-1 overtime win in the Bulldogs last trip to Madison in 2005.

Head coach Jeff Rohrman owns a 2-1 mark against the Bulldogs, while Drake head coach Sean Holmes is 1-3 against the UW, including an 0-2 mark in games played in Madison.
