The Wisconsin mens soccer team wraps up regular season Big Ten play this weekend as it travels to Evanston, Ill. to take on Northwestern. The Badgers and Wildcats kick-off Sunday at 1 p.m. at Northwesterns Lakeside Field.
Against Northwestern (6-6-5, 0-3-2), Wisconsin is hoping to strengthen its conference record before returning home to wrap up the regular season, and before the Big Ten Championships in Bloomington, Ind. Nov. 13-16.
The Badgers (9-9-0, 1-4-0 Big Ten) and Wildcats have faced off every year since 1978 with Wisconsin leading the all-time series 22-3-3. UW has won the last three decisions between the squads, and has lost in Evanston only once. Last season, Wisconsin shut Northwestern out 1-0 in Madison.
Northwestern, who has yet to post a Big Ten win, most recently battled Ohio State to a 1-1 tie last Sunday. The Wildcats have gone into overtime on six occasions this season, while the Badgers have yet to play an extra frame.
Following Sunday, the Badgers have one remaining regular season game before heading into the post-season. Wisconsin takes on Valparaiso in a home game at Reddan Field in Verona on Sat. Nov. 8 at Noon. The McClimon Soccer Complex will be occupied by the womens Big Ten Soccer Tournament that weekend.
