The Wisconsin mens soccer team equaled its highest scoring output of the season tonight with a 4-2 victory over IUPUI at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
Senior defender Scott Repa scored the second goal of his UW career, putting the game-winner into the right corner of the IUPUI net off a direct free kick in the fifth minute of the second half.
Justin Poehler put IUPUI (6-6-1 overall) on the board early, dribbling through a pair of Wisconsin defenders and firing a shot from about 25 yards out that found its way over UW goalkeeper Moriba Atiba Baker.
Wisconsin (7-5-1, 0-2 Big Ten) was unable to even the score until the 40th minute when senior Dominic DaPra was tackled inside the box and then put the ensuing penalty kick past Jaguar goalie Armando Femia for his 12th goal of the season. Fellow senior Aaron Lauber gave the Badgers some insurance with just 1:14 left until halftime. Lauber used a side kick to the right corner off a feed from sophomore Erol Goknur to notch his sixth goal of the year.
The Badgers went up 3-1 on Repas free kick and expanded their lead to three goals when freshman Nick Van Sicklen took a through ball from classmate David Martinez and fired it from close range at the 73:38 mark.
IUPUI scored the games final goal in the 79th minute off a penalty kick resulting from a hand ball inside the UW box. Vince Odorisio took the Jaguars PK.
The Badgers visit Michigan on Sunday at 1 p.m. in hopes of securing their first Big Ten victory of the season.
