The Wisconsin mens soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Dartmouth College Friday night at the McClimon Soccer Complex. Dartmouths Rob Daly led the Big Green with three points (goal and assist), while Badger keeper Eric Hanson recorded three saves for Wisconsin.
Im disappointed in the way we came out and I think Wednesdays game (against UW-Milwaukee) took a lot out of us, Wisconsin head coach Jeff Rohrman said. We didnt rebound in the way we have in prior games this season.
We have a gutcheck on Sunday against Michigan, he continued, Theyre going to be a great team and weve just got to find it within us to come out, compete and give the Wolverines all they can handle.
After a scoreless first half in which Hanson posted all three of his saves, Wisconsin and Dartmouth remained deadlocked entering the halftime break.
At the 57th minute, Daly put the Big Green on the scoreboard after finding the ball in a collision between Hanson and Dartmouths Scott Darci. With the Dartmouth attack near the Badger goal, Hanson challenged a Big Green through-ball and collided with Darci while trying to stop the potential shot. The ball broke loose of the collision for Dalys direct shot to the back of the net for a 1-0 Dartmouth lead.
Daly earned an assist in Dartmouths second goal on a corner kick to the front of the Wisconsin net in the 64th minute. Big Green teammate Seth Eaton dug the ball out of the mob of players to kick it past Hanson for the 2-0 advantage and eventual final score.
Dartmouth goalkeeper Doug Carr recorded no saves in the Big Green net.
