After a hard-fought 1-1 draw at in-state rival UW-Milwaukee earlier in the week, the Wisconsin mens soccer team continues its Big Ten slate by playing host to Ohio State at 7 p.m. Saturday at McClimon Soccer Complex.
Senior Sho Fujita (West Bloomfield, Mich.) scored his first goal of the season to put the Badgers up 1-0 on the Panthers in the 61st minute, however UWM found the equalizer off a set piece in the 69th minute to earn the tie.
Wisconsin, which is now 5-4-3 overall on the season, will be looking for its first win in conference play this season. The Badgers are 0-2-1 halfway through the Big Ten season, but they do play two of their final three conference matches at home, where they were 3-0-0 in league games last season.
The Buckeyes (8-3-2, 1-1-0) enter Saturdays contest on a three-match winning streak, including a 1-0 win over Penn State on Oct. 6. Ohio State lost in its last road game, a 1-0 double overtime loss at UW-Green Bay on Sept. 29.
UW and Ohio State have played two common opponents - Northwestern and UW-Green Bay. Wisconsin went in 0-1-1 in those two matches while Ohio State went 0-2-0. Both teams were shut out by Northwestern, which beat Wisconsin 3-0 and Ohio State 4-0.
Wisconsin is 10-11-1 all-time against Ohio State, including a 2-0 loss last season in Columbus. The Badgers have dropped the last three matches in the series and are 1-5-0 in the last six meetings. Wisconsin is 4-5-0 in games played in Madison.
