Senior forward Dominic DaPra notched his Big Ten-leading 11th goal of the season, but it was not enough as the Wisconsin mens soccer team lost to UW-Milwaukee, 3-1, today at Engelmann Field.
UW goalkeeper Moriba Atiba Baker made a season-high 10 saves as the Badgers (6-3-1) were outshot 20-10 in the contest.
Panther forward Ryan Seymour put UWM (9-2) on the board in the 37th minute after stealing the ball from the Wisconsin defense. Kyle Lance scored what would be the game-winner less than three minutes later, scoring from eight yards out off a cross by Evan Richardson.
With less than five minutes to play in the first half, the Badgers narrowed the gap to 2-1 as DaPra slipped a shot inside the near post off a feed from freshman Nick Van Sicklen.
After intermission, UWM gained some insurance with what would be the games final score. Seymour and Lance teamed up to assist on sophomore Bobby Lishs first goal of the season in the 55th minute of play.
Wisconsin opens the Big Ten season at 19th-ranked Penn State on Sunday. The game, which kicks off at noon Central, will be broadcast live via the internet on PSUs website.
