UW Ready for Match Up With NU

UWs mens soccer team (5-3-2, 1-0-1) will look to impress a crowd full of local youth soccer teams when it faces off against conference rival Northwestern (8-2, 1-1) on Sunday (Oct. 1). Kickoff will take place at 1 p.m. at McClimon Soccer Complex.

Wisconsin will make an attempt at its second conference win amidst its Team Day promotion. All pre-registered teams (high school, middle school, elementary and club teams) will receive free admission, and the Badgers will look to impress these future stars by trying to remain undefeated in the Big Ten. 1996 marks the last time UW was undefeated in conference play after the first three games of the Big Ten season.

The Badgers hope to build upon the current series trend, as they have compiled a 4-1-1 against the Wildcats since the 2000 season. The two teams most recent encounter came last year in the final game of the regular season, when Wisconsin won 2-1.

UW enters the contest with Northwestern riding a four-game unbeaten streak, in which they have gone 2-0-2. The Badgers will be coming off of Thursdays 1-0 defeat of No. 7 Illinois-Chicago.

The Wildcats head into the game with a hot streak of their own. They have won six of their last seven games, with their most recent victory coming against Loyola on Wednesday.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 1) at McClimon Soccer Complex.
