The Wisconsin mens soccer team (4-4-0) lost its second game of the weekend 1-0 Sunday as they took on Portland at the Husky Fever Classic in Seattle. The Badgers ended their six game road stretch with a record of 2-4.
We didn't really come to play, said head coach Jeff Rohrman. We didn't find our game until the second half and then started to look better, but we really weren't at our best. Friday's game took a lot out of us, but Portland is a team that is better than their record shows. They really didn't let us get any rhythm going or get any kind of game plan started.
The only goal of the game was scored by Portlands Alex Elliot five minutes into the second half off an assist form Matthew Dallman, while goalkeeper Luis Roles recorded three saves on only five shots from the Badger offense.
Freshman Victor Diaz (Madrid, Spain) led the offense with three shots on goal, but was unable to find the back of the net.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Hood (La Crosse, Wis.) started his first career game in place of the injured Jake Settle (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and recorded seven saves off Portlands 25 shots.
The Badgers will next be in action Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the McClimon Soccer Complex as they take on Northern Illinois. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
