The Wisconsin mens soccer team (3-3-0) returns home for one game this weekend against IUPUI (5-1-0). The game kicks off at 7 p.m., Friday and is UW Student NightUW students with ID can gain free admission to the match.
The Badgers are coming off their third split weekend after losing to #16 Creighton and rebounding with a 2-1 win over Drake. In each of the other two weekends the team was defeated in its first game and found the win the second day. With just one game this weekend the Badgers are going to want to treat it like the second game.
The Jaguars had been on a five-game winning streak until Butler nearly shut them out. Freshman Vangel Nacovski scored two goals in the last 15 minutes to narrow the gap to 3-2, but Butler held on for the win. Nacovskis two goals were added to his nine prior giving him an amazing 11 goals in six games. However, only three other players have scored any goals and two athletes account for half the teams shots. With this unbalanced attack Wisconsins defense can focus on shutting down their key players.
Wisconsin has met IUPUI three times and lead the all-time series, 2-1. Last season the Badgers whomped the Jaguars in a decisive 5-0 blowout.
The team would certainly like a repeat of last seasons shutout, especially senior keeper and tri-captain Eric Hanson. Earlier in the season Hanson agreed to a bet that has gotten a little hairy. Hanson cant shave his beard until he earns a shutout. Three weeks into the season, a perfect game couldnt come at a better time.
