The Wisconsin men's soccer team placed three players on the Milwaukee Panther Classic all-tournament team Sunday after finishing runner-up in the 36th annual event.
A trio of seniors represented the Badgers on the all-tourney squad, with forward Brandon Miller, defender Eric Conklin and goalkeeper Alex Horwath each earning a nod.
Miller tallied both of UW's goals on the weekend, including the game-winner Friday against Oakland, while Conklin moved from his midfield spot to the back because of injuries and helped anchor a defense that allowed just a single goal in two games.
Horwath collected 11 saves on the weekend, including eight Sunday against UC Santa Barbara, and posted the 16th shutout of his career Friday against Oakland.
The Badgers went 1-0-1 on the weekend, scoring a 1-0 win over the Golden Grizzlies on Friday before fighting to a 1-1 draw with ninth-ranked UC Santa Barbara in two overtimes on Sunday.
Wisconsin now turns its attention to preparing for Friday's Big Ten Conference opener against No. 8 Indiana as part of the Pac the Mac doubleheader. The Badgers and Hoosiers will face off at 7:30 p.m. after the UW women's team takes on Purdue at 5 p.m.
Admission is free for youth soccer players who wear their team jersey, as well as for UW students who present a valid student ID. The students also will have the opportunity to sit behind the goals at field level and will receive free t-shirts, courtesy of Big Ten Network, while supplies last.
