With 13 true freshmen in addition to two transfers, the Wisconsin men’s soccer team has many new faces for the upcoming season. Follow along as UWBadgers.com introduces the newest Badgers during preseason training camp. Today, we meet freshman Jacob Gerondale of Flower Mound, Texas.

Why did you choose Wisconsin?
I have always wanted to attend a prestigious university with a great athletics program, and once I visited the campus I was sold.

What goals do you have for the upcoming season?
My goals include a starting position, the least amount of goals against in the conference and to help the Badgers to a playoff appearance.

How did you spend your summer?
I went to Greensboro, N.C. and Los Angeles with FC Dallas, chilled with my friends and got in shape for the season.

What are the strongest parts of your game?
My quickness and speed, my 1v1s and my strength in the air

What part of your game needs the most work?
I feel that I need to improve my foot skills and finding the striker more often.

What is your favorite thing about Madison?
I like that it is an urban place, but if you get sick of all the commotion the lake is not far away.

What are your pregame rituals?
Every game for the past few years, I wear the same gross shin guards.

Outside of soccer, what is your best talent?
I have a pretty solid golf game, and I am a decent football kicker.

What class are you most looking forward to this year?
My exercise, nutrition and health class should be pretty cool.

How do you spend your free time?
I like to chill with my friends, play sports and go on the lake.

What’s your nickname?
I never really had a nickname…my friends just usually call me Gerondale.

What are your favorite professional clubs?
I like FC Dallas, Manchester City and Barcelona.
