The Wisconsin mens soccer team will make its 2007 debut at 5 p.m. Sunday in an exhibition game against UW-Parkside. Weather permitting, the match will be held on the recently resurfaced McClimon Soccer Complex field with the near-by University Bay fields serving as an alternate location.
During the off-season, a new field was laid down at McClimon Soccer Complex to improve the quality of the playing surface. A decision on whether or not to play Sundays exhibition match on that new surface will be made by Sunday afternoon and will be announced on uwbadgers.com as soon as possible.
The match, initially scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday, was moved ahead one hour to 5 p.m. due to possible weather concerns on Sunday.
Leading the Badgers in 2007 will be a five-member senior class that includes four players who have played in at least 48 games in their careers. In all, Wisconsin returns six starters from last seasons squad that finished the year with an overall record of 9-8-2, including its entire corps of midfielders.
After Sundays exhibition opener against UW-Parkside, the Badgers will conclude their preseason slate at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24 at McClimon Soccer Complex. Admission to both matches is free.
