Wisconsin mens soccer incoming freshman forward Tyler Crawford has been named to the College Soccer News Top-100 Freshmen List, the organization announced.
The native of Columbia, Ill., joins the Badgers this season after earning NSCAA High School All-American honors last fall while playing at Waterloo Gibault Catholic High School. He also helped lead his team to the IHSA Class A State championship in 2005.
Six other current Badgers have earned a spot on the Top-100 Freshmen List during their careers including seniors Nick Caronna, Erik Ortega and Dirk Pearson as well as junior Kenny Dix. Sophomore Taylor Waspi and redshirt freshman Ryan Vint each received the honor last season.
Crawford and the Badgers make their 2007 debut in an exhibition game against UW-Parkside at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 19 at McClimon Soccer Complex. The preseason concludes with another home exhibition game against UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 24. Admission to both games is free.
Wisconsin opens the regular season by playing host to the Middleton Sports & Fitness Invitational August 31 and September 2 at McClimon Soccer Complex. The Badgers will face Tulsa at 7:30 on Friday and Western Michigan at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. UW-Milwaukee rounds out the tournament field, playing Western Michigan at 5 p.m. on Friday and Tulsa at noon on Sunday.
