Wisconsin mens soccer head coach Jeff Rohrman announced Thursday that William Bagayoko, a midfielder and forward, has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wisconsin and will join the Badgers fall 2003 roster. Bagayoko hails from Baton Rouge, La., and will graduate from Baton Rouges McKinley High School this spring.
William is a tremendous athlete who should compete to play right away, Rohrman said. He will give us another dimension in our attack as he is a very dynamic player who possesses a tremendous left foot. He is technically sound and will create his share of chances for himself and others through his speed and quickness.
Wisconsins newest recruit will join a strong incoming class of 10 fellow recruits and one transfer student-athlete, as earlier reported on UWBADGERS.COM.
A six-year member of the Louisiana state select Olympic Development Program 85 team, Bagayoko is a four-year letterwinner for the McKinley Panthers soccer team and is a four-time all-district selection, in addition to a two-time all-district most valuable player. The high school senior was named to both the 2002 and 2003 all-metro team, was selected as an all-metro MVP this year and was an all-state MVP nominee in 2002.
As a member of the Baton Rouge Soccer Club, Bagayoko helped lead his teammates to a Louisiana Snickers State Cup Semi-Finalist finish in 2002.
