MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men’s soccer team announced its spring schedule on Friday, a slate of six games that begins against Green Bay at the McClain Center at 5:30 p.m. on March 15.
The schedule sports a Midwest flavor, as five of the six teams are either from Wisconsin or Illinois. The sixth match, set for May 3 at the UBay Practice Field, will be against Wisconsin alumni.
After opening the season against Green Bay, UW hits the road for three matches. The Badgers will first travel to Western Illinois on April 6 for a 2 p.m. game, followed by an April 13 trip to Marquette for a four-team tournament.
The matchups haven’t been set, but Milwaukee, Green Bay and Marquette will also participate in the tournament. Each team plays two matches, with the winners of the first round meeting squaring off in a second match, while the losing teams in the first round face off.
The Badgers battle Green Bay and Marquette for the second time in six months, as UW went 1-1 against the teams in the regular season. Wisconsin cruised past Green Bay on Oct. 17 in Madison, winning 3-0. Against the Golden Eagles, the Badgers came up just short in a double-overtime thriller, falling 2-1 in Milwaukee on Sept. 26.
The Badgers return home for an April 21 match against Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. at the UBay Practice Field before traveling to Illinois to take on UIC at 7 p.m. on April 27. UW’s spring season concludes with the alumni match.
