MADISON, Wis. - Registration for the University of Wisconsin men's soccer 2011 boy's summer camps as well as the Badgers Day Camp for boys and girls is currently still underway.
The Wisconsin soccer staff will offer two elite camps with residential and commuter options. The two Boy's Elite Soccer Academy camps will be held June 28-July 1 and July 10-13. Each camp will offer opportunities to train with Badger head coach and U-18 National Team assistant coach John Trask, as well as UW assistants Keith Tiemeyer and Phil Presser.
The Badger Soccer Day Camp, scheduled for July 18-22, is a coed camp for boys and girls, ages 4-12, run jointly with UW women's soccer head coach Paula Wilkins and her staff. The camp was a tremendous success last year and will feature student-athletes from both the men's and women's soccer teams to help demonstrate skills and drills.
"My staff and I are extremely excited about the upcoming summer soccer camps," Trask said. "We will be running two elite camp weeks for overnight campers, as well as joining forces again with the UW women's soccer staff on the Badger Day Camp for younger players in the Madison area."
The Elite Academy will include morning training in techniques such as finishing, passing, dribbling and ball control, as well as afternoon sessions concentrating on tactical development with full matches and tournaments. Campers also will take part in film sessions and a series of lectures and question-and-answer sessions, along with an optional college recruiting seminar.
A specialized goalkeeper curriculum will be an important feature of the camp. Goalkeepers will have individual training sessions tailored for their development as well as match analysis on the mental and tactical pieces of being a top goalkeeper.
"Our philosophy is simple: to help create a passion in the player while ensuring a fun and rewarding experience here at UW," Trask said. "We will bring in top-level coaches in from other college programs to give the elite player a great camp atmosphere in which they can learn from the best in the game and continue their development."
The Badger Soccer Day Camp provides boys and girls with an ideal environment to develop their soccer skills and knowledge of the game. Instruction is meant to be challenging and fun to support the young players' love of the game.
Little Stars, ages 4-6, will have a variety of activities and games added to the curriculum to keep the focus on having fun while learning skills, while the older players, ages 6-12, will be challenged at an appropriate level with more advanced activities for both field players and goalkeepers.
Campers are arranged in small groups with appropriate coach-to-player ratios to maximize learning opportunities.
All camps are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender). For more information and registration details, visit www.wisconsinsoccercamp.com.
