Wisconsin mens soccer senior Aaron Lauber was named to the Verizon Academic All-District V Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) today. Lauber will join the 10 other all-district selections on the national ballot.
Lauber, a forward from Franklin, Wis., ranked second on the team and tied the eighth-best mark in Badger history with 11 goals this season. Lauber was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 5 after notching five goals in a pair of Badger victories over Northwestern and Ohio State. He set the schools single-game record of four goals in the UWs 5-2 win at NU, then followed that performance by netting the lone goal in a 1-0 upset of the 14th-ranked Buckeyes. Lauber tallied both of Wisconsins goals in a 2-1 win over UW-Green Bay and also scored the game-winner in a 2-0 victory at TCU.
A three-time academic all-Big Ten selection and two-time UW Athletic Board Scholar, Lauber carries a 3.85 cumulative grade-point average and will complete his Masters in Accountancy this May.
All nominees for Verizon academic honors must be in their sophomore year and carry legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA. Nominated athletes are voted on by members of CoSIDA.
