MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin men's soccer team ended the 2012 regular season with a scoreless draw against Ohio State on Sunday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio.
With the tie, Wisconsin ends the season with a 6-7-5 overall record (1-3-2 Big Ten) and will have the sixth seed to start the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday. Ohio State finishes the regular season without a conference win (0-4-2 Big Ten) and a 6-9-3 overall record.
Freshman goalkeeper Chase Rau made six saves in the contest, recording back-to-back shutouts after blanking Northwestern on Oct. 27. Rau has not allowed a goal in his last 250 minutes in net.
The Badgers have also recorded three-straight shutouts as Max Jentsch blanked UMKC on Oct. 24 prior to Rau's pair of shutouts.
In regulation, Ohio State outshot Wisconsin, 15-10, but the Badgers were more accurate placing six on target, compared to five by OSU.
However, the Buckeyes took over the majority of play in the 20 minutes of overtime, keeping Wisconsin without a shot and taking four of their own with one on net.
The Badgers will face third-seeded Michigan on Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. The tournament is being hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., with the Badgers' quarterfinal game set to begin at 3:30 p.m. (CT).
