MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men’s rowing team announced its 2012-13 schedule Friday, which is highlighted by two home regattas and three trips to the East Coast.
The men’s crew starts the season with a trip to Boston for the historic Head of the Charles on Oct. 21. The Badgers opened last season at the Head of the Charles, claiming seventh place at the regatta.
Wisconsin then heads south to Iowa City a week later to race in the Head of the Iowa on Oct. 28. The novice crew will cap off the fall portion of the schedule taking on Michigan, Nov. 4, in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The spring season begins with the Badgers hosting the Michigan Wolverines on Lake Mendota, April 6.
Two weeks later the Badgers split into two teams. One group heading out to Redwood City, Calif., for the three-day Stanford Invitational, April 19-21. The second group will host Minnesota and Milwaukee School of Engineering, April 20, on Lake Mendota.
The two regattas in April are the only home races on schedule for the Badgers this season.
Wisconsin heads out to Boston for two races against MIT (May 4) and Boston University (May 5). The Badgers will return to the Boston area two weeks later for the Eastern Sprints on May 19 looking to improve on their third-place finish from the year before.
The season wraps up with the IRA National Championships on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif., May 31-June 2.
