Former Badger rower Andrew Gallagher is one of five Badgers on the 2013 U.S. Senior National Team.

MADISON, Wis. -- USRowing officially named much of the 2013 U.S. National Team and five former Wisconsin rowers are among the 41-member contingent. Additional members of the team will still be named.
The five Badgers including 2012 Olympians Kristin Hedstrom (Concord, Mass.), Ross James (DeKalb, Ill.), Grant James (DeKalb, Ill.) as well as Andrew Gallagher (Phoenix) and Vicky Opitz (Middleton, Wis.).
Hedstrom, who placed 11th at the 2012 Olympics in the lightweight double sculls, will race that event again at this year's world championships. She makes her fifth senior national team appearance.
Ross James, who along with his brother Grant finished fourth at the 2012 Olympics in the men's eight, returns to the men's eight for this year's world championships. Grant James will race in the men's four.
Gallagher, who boasts international experience in 2010 and 2011 with the U.S. Under 23 team, will race in the men's quadruple sculls.
Finally Opitz, who helped the U.S. women's eight set the world's fastest time last month in Lucerne, Switzerland during a World Cup event, makes her first senior national team appearance. Opitz will again race with the women's eight.
The 2013 World Rowing Championships take place Aug. 25-Sept. 1, in Chungju, South Korea.
