Trio of Badgers earn bid to compete in Junior Championships

MADISON, Wis. - Although the offseason is in full swing for most of the collegiate rowing world, the wheels never stop spinning for the Wisconsin crew squad.

Two former Badgers, along with a current UW rower, punched their tickets to Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Wednesday afternoon for the 2012 World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships. The men's lightweight eight boat, which included 2010 graduate Anders Corbett, 2009 graduate Ryan Fox and returning senior Eric Rhiel, finished first in Wednesday's finals trials at the USRowing Junior World trials.

The trials began Monday in Mercer Lake, N.J., and concluded this afternoon with the finals. The World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships begin Wednesday, August 15 in Bulgaria and will conclude August 19.
