Your guide for watching, listening to and following Badger hockey
Oct. 21, 2009
MADISON, Wis -- Consider this your guide as to how to watch, listen to, or just plain follow the Wisconsin men’s hockey team during the 2009-10 season. Here are some great resources when trying to find out where you can watch Badger hockey. Your first stop each weekend should be UWBadgers.com since the most up-to-date schedule is there. There are links for live stats for every home game, as well as TV and radio broadcast information, live Web stream links, news, notes, photos and anything else you could imagine. Links for road game live stats and streams should also be available prior to each game. If you are looking for a clearinghouse of information, visit playcollegehockey.com. There you will be able to find links to schedules, live state, live audio and live video for every Division I men’s hockey team in the country. The site should prove especially useful for Badger road games. Many, if not all schools, live stream their home games. Of note about games on The Wisconsin Channel. You can visit The Wisconsin Channel Web site for a 24-hour stream of programming on the channel. That means any time Wisconsin games are shown on the station, you can watch online. In addition to Wisconsin broadcasts, some Badger hockey games will also air on an opponents’ television station. Broadcasts of Wisconsin-Minnesota games air on FSN Minnesota, except for games on the Big Ten Network, while the two games at North Dakota are slated to air on Fox College Sports. Check local listings. There are four Wisconsin home contests that will not air on television. Each of those contests will be available via live Web stream at BigTenNetwork.com for a fee of $2.99. Every Wisconsin hockey game can be heard on the radio with Brian Posick and Mike Cerniglia calling the action. In the Madison area, WIBA-AM 1310 will air nearly all Badger hockey games. WTSO-AM 1070 in the Madison area will cover the ones for which there are conflicts. Check the list for the men’s hockey Wisconsin Radio Network to see what station carries the game in your area. Live audio of all Badger games is available at UWBadgers.com. The audio streams are free until the Minnesota State series. For road games, UWBadgers.com will host a live blog as a way for fans to follow along with how the Badgers are doing. For this weekend’s games against Colorado College, Friday will air live at 7 p.m. on FSN Wisconsin and tape-delayed on The Wisconsin Channel at 10 p.m. on Friday and against at 6 p.m. on Saturday. If you visit The Wisconsin Channel online at 10 p.m., you can watch the delayed broadcast there as well. To catch Saturday’s action, you can watch the live stream at BigTenNetwork.com. Live stats for both games will be available at UWBadgers.com. In addition, the Wisconsin Radio Network, including WIBA-AM 1310 in Madison, will carry the Badger games live. A free audio stream of both contests can be found at UWBadgers.com. Still the best way to catch Badger hockey is in person. 2009-10 Wisconsin men’s hockey single game tickets are available now for $22 for reserved seats while upper-reserved tickets are only $18. New for 2009 is the Family Four Pack, which includes four upper-reserved tickets and concessions for only $48.
