MADISON, Wis. -- Joel Rumpel placed himself among an elite group of skaters in the history of Wisconsin men's hockey with his performance last season, helping the Badgers claim the inaugural Big Ten Tournament title and a second-consecutive NCAA tournament berth.
Becoming the 11th skater and just the third goaltender in Wisconsin history to make the top-10 cut of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, the junior goaltender was also named a Mike Richter Award top-five finalist as one of the nation's best goaltenders.
The Swift Current, Saskatchewan, native was recognized with 2014 second-team All-Big Ten honors, proving one of the nation's top goaltenders all season long. He ranked third in the nation with a 21-6-1 record, which was good for a .768 winning percentage. Rumpel also ranked seventh in the nation with his .929 save percentage.
A two-time Big Ten First Star of the Week, Rumpel was also honored once with Big Ten Second Star of the Week recognition.
