Fan events set for National Championship Game

DETROIT--The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department is pleased to announce additional fan events in conjunction with the 2010 NCAA Men’s Hockey Frozen Four and Saturday’s national championship game in Detroit.

On Friday, April 9, fans are invited to join the UW Band for a performance at the College Hockey Fan Fest located in the Renaissance Center Wintergarden. The free Fan Fast offers interactive games, a college hockey history display and more. The UW Band will play at 5 PM ET.

Also, on Friday, April 9, hockey fans are encouraged to be part of Friday at the Frozen Four and the Frozen Four Skills Challenge at Ford Field. Highlights of the evening include a on-ice skills challenge features the nation’s most talented collegiate student-athletes, the announcement of the AHCA All-American Team and the presentation of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award given annually to the nation’s most outstanding player. Badger tri-captain Blake Geoffrion (Brentwood, Tenn.) is a finalist for this award. Tickets are still available and are just $10.

On Saturday, April 10, in advance of the national championship game, Badger fans are invited to join members of the UW Band in the Marriott Renaissance Center ground floor lobby at 4:45PM ET to send the team off.

In addition, the official Badger Frozen Four National Championship Pep Rally will get underway at Cheli’s Chili Bar beginning at 5PM ET. The event will feature Bucky Badger and the UW Band and will run until gametime.


The UW Athletic Department and the Wisconsin Alumni Association are pleased to designate Cheli’s Chili Bar as the official Badger Fan Headquarters. Cheli’s Chili Bar is located at 47 East Adams Avenue in downtown Detroit, one block from Ford Field. Cheli’s Chili Bar is owned by Chris Chelios, a member of Wisconsin’s 1983 national championship hockey team. Chelios is currently a member of the NHL’s Atlanta Thrashers and is completing his 25th season in the NHL.
