MADISON, Wis. - After receiving numerous entries from Wisconsin hockey fans, the winners of the Wisconsin men's hockey player banner contest were announced today.

The fan-designed banners will hang at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at Alliant Energy Center on March 8 and 9, when the UW team returns to the building for the final regular-season home series of the 2012-13 season against St. Cloud State.

The winning entries were created by Kari Brausen, Greg Gehrig, BJ Lyke, Chuck Nolden, Kari Potter, Candy Pharo, Aaron Scharff and Thomas Schulz.

Fans were invited to submit their idea for a player banner, similar to the banners that hung during the years the Badgers played their home games in the Coliseum. The department awarded eight winners in the contest and each received tickets to the games at the Coliseum this weekend.

The banners designed by the eight fan winners will hang in the Coliseum for both games of the series. Banners created by friends of the men's hockey program will also be featured at the games.

The Badgers conclude their regular season in a special throwback series at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Face off is at 7 p.m. for both Friday and Saturday's games. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com or at the Alliant Energy Center box office.
