MADISON, Wis. - With temperatures hovering near the 20-degree mark, the Wisconsin men's hockey team hit the ice outdoors at Elver Park in Madison on Tuesday to get a taste of what things will be like on Feb. 6, when the team takes part in the Culver's Camp Randall Hockey Classic.
If Tuesday previews things to come, then the teams at Camp Randall Stadium will be having a blast. To review, the Wisconsin women's hockey program will skate against Bemidji State at 2 p.m., then the Badger men will face Michigan at 5 p.m.
The team stayed on the ice about an hour Tuesday, a time about the equivalent of what UW equipment manager Nate LaPoint spent sharpening the skates of every player on the team after they dropped off their equipment back at the Coliseum following the practice.
