MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin men’s golf team takes to the course for one final competition of the fall season this weekend, when the Badgers travel to Kiawah Island, S.C., for the Wendy’s Kiawah Classic on Sunday-Tuesday, Nov. 3-5.
The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Charleston Southern, is held at the Par 72, 7,100-yard Turtle Point Golf Club.
Wisconsin will compete against a 19-team field. After winning the tournament last year with a 7-over par 282-293-284—859, South Carolina will compete for a second-straight championship.
2013 Participating Field: Campbell, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Creighton, Elon, George Washington, Jacksonville State, Marquette, Minnesota, Missouri, Presbyterian College, Radford, Richmond, South Carolina, Towson, USC Upstate, Western Kentucky, Winthrop, Wisconsin
At last season’s Wendy’s Kiawah Classic, the Badgers played to a seventh-place finish in the 26-team invitational. UW tallied two sub-300 rounds, earning a 50-over par 296-291-315--902.
The Badgers are sending experience to their season-closing meet. Redshirt seniors Zach Balit, Jack Watson, Robert Jacobsen and senior John Gullberg will represent Wisconsin at the meet.
Gullberg, Jacobsen and Balit have each led UW at a tournament this season.
Additionally, freshman Ben Skogen will compete for UW. At the 36-hole DePauw Small College Classic on Oct. 12-13, Skogen earned all-tournament team honors after tying for sixth while competing as an individual. He earned a 36-hole career-best 7-over par 75-75--150.
