MADISON, Wis.- The UW men’s golf team continues its fall schedule Oct. 8-9 at the 54-hole Firestone Invitational at the par 72 Firestone Country Club golf course in Akron, Ohio.
Last year, the Badgers finished 17th in this tournament with a 30-over par 295-303-296--894. Anthony Aicher and Chris Meyer led UW, each with a 4-over par 220, finishing tied for 34th place.
Indiana and St. Mary’s tied for first, both finishing with a 10-under par 854. St. Mary’s will return to defend its title and will be joined in the tournament by the University of Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green State, Davidson, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Lousville, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), Nebraska, Ohio, Samford, USC-Aiken and Wisconsin.
Playing for the Badgers this week are Anthony Aicher, Chris Meyer, Thomas O'Bryan, Brady Keegan and Matt Ross. This is Ross' collegiate debut.
The Badgers are coming off their second tournament of the season Sept. 22-23 where they finished fifth with a 50-over par 308-299-295--902 at the 54-hole D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in Normal, Ill.
