MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's golf team returns to competition on the road Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 6-8, when the Badgers travel to Erin, Wis., for the Erin Hills Intercollegiate.
Hosted by Marquette University, the 54-hole event will be held at the future site of the 2017 U.S. Men's Golf Open.
UW will compete against a 14-team field including ranked teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Oklahoma sits at No. 10 in the standings and Stanford ranks No. 11.
Participants: DePaul, Green Bay, Marquette (host), Michigan, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oregon State, St. John’s, SMU, Stanford, UCLA, Wisconsin
Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. (CT) on the 1st tee on Sunday-Monday, while tee times will be off the 1st and 10th tees on Tuesday. Eighteen holes will be played each day.
Coming off of a career-best tournament, Robert Jacobsen will be competing for Wisconsin. The senior carded a career-best 1-under par 74-73-68--215 to tie for third in UW’s home event, Badger Invitational, Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
Jacobsen had the best 18-hole score of the field in the final-round with a personal best 68 at the 7,259-yard, par-72 University Ridge Golf Course and earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors on Wednesday.
Junior Jack Watson and senior Zach Balit will also compete.
Playing in his first tournament for the Badgers after transferring from Kent State, Watson placed second for UW at the Badger Invitational, finishing tied for 29th place with a 9-over par 72-75-78--225. Balit recorded a fourth-place finish for the Badgers, earning 59th place overall with a 17-over par 74-81-78--233.
Additionally, sophomore Matt Ross will compete for UW. Playing as an individual at the Badgers’ home event, Ross recorded a 54-hole career best 4-over par 72-71-77--220 and tied for 10th place.
Junior Thomas O’Bryan rounds out the Badgers team roster, while freshman Tommy Schofield will participate as an individual.
