Men's golf releases full schedule

MADISON, Wis. -- The full fall and spring men's golf schedule is now available online. Second year coach Michael Burcin released the spring portion this week. UW has three events remaining in its fall schedule including the Firestone Invitational Oct. 8-9 in Akron, Ohio.

UW will head to Duluth, Ga., for the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic Oct. 15-16, and finish up at Kiawah Island, S.C. with the Wendy's Kiawah Classic.

The Badgers begin the spring season Feb. 8-9 at the fourth annual Big Ten Match Play Championship at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. All 12 Big Ten men's golf teams will be participating in the annual two-day event.

The first round of the event is scheduled for Friday morning, while quarterfinal matches are set for that afternoon. Championship and consolation semifinals will take place on Saturday morning with the first-, third-, fifth- and seventh-place matches following in the afternoon. Each match between the schools will consist of six head-to-head contests.

UW continues its season down south at the USF Invitational March 3-5 at the Lake Jovita Golf Club in Dade City, Fla. Wisconsin returns for a second season on March 24-26 to the prestigious Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. Last year, the Badgers jumped four places and finished tied for 11th in the final round in a nationally ranked field with a 38-over par 301-298-303--902.

Wisconsin has its final tune-up of the spring before the Big Ten Championships at the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational April 13-14. The Badgers place ninth last year with a season-best 54-hole score if 302-288-298--888.

This will be the second year the 72-hole Big Ten Championships will be held at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind. A year ago, UW wrapped up its season by improving one spot in the Big Ten Championships to finish 11th with a 317-326-300-306--1249.
