University Ridge is the subject of a Course Spy article written for golf.com online and appearing in the Eastern edition of Golf Magazines 50th Anniversary issue (September 2009). The article, written by senior editor Joe Passov, gives the Ridge an A grade.
It compliments course architect and Wisconsin alumni, Jay Blasi, who reworked the Robert Trent Jones, Jr., course transforming it from a solid track into a great challenge, adding nearly 400 yards to the layout. It isn't Whistling Straits, but it's definitely all the golf you could want.
Passov also commented on the value of playing University Ridge saying, it's well worth what we paid given the superb grooming, memorable holes and stiff but fair challenge. Play before 9 a.m. or after 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and it's less than $50 to walk. That's value!
University Ridge Golf Course has received numerous awards and complimentary articles. Last October the Ridge was named the top collegiate course and No. 28 in the Readers Choice Awards Top 50 public category in Golf World. Wisconsin Golf named it No. 8 in the top 25 public courses in Wisconsin.
