PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Four Badger men golfers were among the 98 Wisconsin student-athletes to earn the honor of being named to the spring Big Ten Academic All-Conference team, the Big Ten Conference announced May 31.
Repeat honors went to redshirt seniors Chris Meyer and Thomas Welk and juniors Eric Schremp and Anthony Aicher, all of whom earned their second-straight conference academic recognition. Welk had a 4.0 during the fall semester.
A total of 1,154 spring and at-large sports student-athletes were named to the team. The list of honored student-athletes features 87 softball players, 132 women's rowers, 51 men's and 36 women's golfers, 50 men's and 58 women's tennis athletes, 163 men's and 198 women's track and field standouts and 139 men's (including hockey and rowing) and 131 women's (including hockey and lightweight rowing) at-large athletes.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
