MADISON, Wis.- Wisconsin begins its spring schedule Feb. 8-9 at the Big Ten Match Play Tournament held at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. Six players will play a match play format against the other Big Ten schools. Wisconsin faces Ohio State in the first round.

Badgers traveling include seniors Thomas Welk and Chris Meyer, juniors John Gullberg and Robbie Jacobsen, sophomore Thomas O'Bryan and freshman Matt Ross.

The AJGA will once again handle live scoring for Big Ten Match Play at http://www.ajga.org/big10mpc.

UW wrapped up its fall season on October 30 with a seventh place finish in the Wendy's Kiawah Classic. The Badgers will use the lessons learned throughout the fall season to build upon in the upcoming spring season.

The Badgers finished with three top -10 finishes in five tournaments. Their best finish came in Normal, Ill., where the team came in fifth at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, carding a 308-299-295=902.

A promising newcomer for the Badgers is Matt Ross. Making his debut as a freshman, Ross came out of the gate strong, leading the Badgers with a 22nd place finish at the Firestone Invitational by shooting a 148.

The other two key golfers for the Badgers this past fall were senior, Chris Meyer and sophomore, Thomas O'Bryan. Meyer led Wisconsin in the first two tournaments of the fall season and was the team's top scorer with an 18-hole average round of 74.45. O'Bryan led UW in the last two tournaments of the fall season, and is the team's second highest scorer with an 18-hole average of 74.86.
