Played one season (1942) at UW, but led the Badgers to an 8-1-1 record ... rushed for 786 yards ... played professionally for the Chicago Rockets (1946-48) and Los Angeles Rams (1949-57) ... totaled 387 receptions for 7,029 yards and 60 touchdowns in career ... key part of the Los Angeles Rams’ revolutionary “three-end” offense in 1949 ... inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1968.

A two-time All-Big Ten center at Wisconsin in 1972 and 1973 ... only the second center (Dick Teteak is the other) to earn team MVP honors since 1950 ... won "W" awards in football from 1971-73 and captained the team as a senior ... spent NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1974-88) and Kansas City Chiefs (1989-90) ... played more seasons (15) and games (220) than anybody in Steelers’ history ... nine-time Pro Bowl pick, including five as a starter ... won four Super Bowls with the Steelers ... had a string of 150 consecutive starts between 1976-86.
