MADISON, Wis.
– The Sporting News can be added to the list of publications that are recognizing members of the Wisconsin football team as All-Americans.

Gabe Carimi, who was named first-team All-American by the Associated Press and Sports Illustrated on Tuesday, and Lance Kendricks -- first-team by SI and second-team by AP – were each selected to the Sporting News’ All-American team on Wednesday.

With the honor, Carimi becomes the Badgers’ first consensus All-American since Joe Thomas in 2006.

Wisconsin joins Auburn, LSU and Oregon as the only schools to have two players named to the team.

In addition, James White added to his haul by being placed on the publication’s All-Freshman Team. On Tuesday he received the same honor from Rivals and CollegeFootballNews.com.

Wisconsin’s three representatives on the Sporting News’ teams marked the most of any team in the country.

Wednesday also saw the unveiling of Rivals’ Big Ten All-Freshman team. White was tabbed as one of the starting running backs and he was joined by wide receiver Jared Abbrederis and defensive tackle Jordan Kohout on the squad.
