In case you missed it…
The Big Ten Conference announced its player of the year awards Monday and John Clay was named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year, while Chris Borland was tabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Year. In all, 12 Badgers earned All-Big Ten mention. Read more with this release.

Clay is named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year
At one point this season, University of Wisconsin sophomore running back John Clay talked to his offensive linemen and told them he would go as far as they would take him. They took him all the way to the consensus Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Year, as selected by both the media and coaches, in voting announced Monday night. In turn, Clay helped take a couple of his teammates along with him, writes Tom Mulhern for the Wisconsin State Journal.

Line’s left side makes all the right moves

The way things were going in August, it looked like it was going to be a long year for the University of Wisconsin football team’s offensive line. At one point during training camp, three of the projected starters were out with injuries. But junior left tackle Gabe Carimi and junior left guard John Moffitt made sure it wasn’t a wasted season, a point that was punctuated earlier this week when both were named first-team All-Big Ten Conference, writes Jim Polzin in this notes column for Madison.com.

UW faces another bye week after loss
The setting seems eerily familiar: The Wisconsin Badgers are coming off a bitter defeat with an unusually long break to sit and stew. The Badgers took the time to nurse some minor injuries during the first bye week and repair their collective psyche and returned to action with a 37-0 victory over Purdue. This time, Wisconsin hopes to get some rest and fix some mistakes from the Northwestern game writes Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
