MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department, in conjunction with Oscar Mayer, is pleased to announce Chuck Halverson of Dodgeville, Wis., as today’s Wisconsin Football Season Ticket Holder of the Game.
Growing up in the small town of Jonesdale, Wis, Chuck came from a family of 17. He has loved the Badgers for as long as he can remember, often taking his radio and listening to games in the fields outside his family’s three-bedroom country home.
He left home at age 13 with the intention of going to high school, becoming the first one in his family to do so. At Dodgeville High, Chuck excelled in basketball, football and track. He is in the Dodgeville High School Hall of Fame, and ran a sub-5 minute mile at the state meet in 1944.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, where he served for two years as a hospital lab technician. He returned from the South Pacific in 1946, and played defensive end for the Badgers until 1949. He graduated in 1950 with a degree in agriculture.
Chuck is a long-time supporter of the Badgers, organizing countless fundraisers and events benefiting the UW Athletics over 40-plus years.
Now 89, Chuck is a 66-year season ticket holder and can be found at home games with his wife, Marion, and daughter, Renee.
As part of being named the Season Ticket Holder of the Game, Chuck will be recognized on the field during today’s game vs. BYU.
The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department is pleased to join Oscar Mayer in saluting Chuck Halverson as this week’s Season Ticket Holder of the Game.
